Young Franco — Close 2 U EP

Brisbane's Young Franco first caught our attention with ace remixes of Kilter and Broods a few months back, then really captivated us with his bold tropical flip of SAFIA's seminal Paranoia, Ghosts, & Other Sounds, so we promptly made note to put the young up-and-comer on our radar. And we're sure glad we did after hearing his brand new Close 2 U EP, which he put out just yesterday. The release is a complimentary two-part set, with the title track Close 2 U coming as a whirlwind of steel drums, piano jamming, and exquisite vocal work courtesy of Brisbane singer JOY, and it's slightly more subdued b-side Hurricane serving up an irresistibly wonky bassline with a side of freshly chopped vocals and crisp hi-hats.
