CS Premiere • Sondrio — Get Down

Australian powerhouse Sondrio has had quite a year — from dropping the unrivaled remix of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Be With You last Spring, throwing down one of our favorite CS exclusive mixes, and releasing both debut EP Night Music and stellar follow-up Night Music II (the latter of which earned playtime on triple j), we can’t imagine that momentum for the Canberra native will be stopping anytime soon. Turns out our assumptions were right, and this time our boy has returned with the hypnotic slow roller Get Down to round out the summer — or charge into Spring down under.

Packed with heavy kicks, thick hi-hats and a medley of robotic laser samples, Get Down offers a stripped and knocking anthem for dancefloor enthusiasts, flexing Sondrio’s versatility for both breezy and house-leaning excellence. Where Sprezzatura from Night Music II is basically rave workout music for the inevitable 2044 moon colony (always a good thing), this one unravels with a more relaxed block party feel, a perfect opening track for late afternoon sets and sure to make heads nod far and wide.

But it doesn’t stop there. We’ve also received full confirmation that the track will be featured on the forthcoming Night Music III, undoubtedly packed with even more vibes than the previous two installments. More importantly, Get Down is the first release on the Sondrio’s newly minted label Romantics — a no-nonsense organization with releases from both the young producer and new artists starting next year. They say good things comes in threes, and for that we are grateful.

Night Music III comes out September 8th, with Night Music I & II getting a release on both Beatport and Traxsource shortly afterwards. We will also all have the pleasure of witnessing an exclusive DJ mix from Sondrio on triple j’s Mix Up in support of all this come September 16th, and I recommend setting a calendar reminder now.
