It's become abundantly clear by now that The Magician has a particular knack for discovering promising talent, and this is made apparent yet again with the latest release on the tastemaker's newly minted imprint POTION. Initially peaking curiosities through a feature in the label boss' seminal Magic Tape series, S M O K I N' J O E, courtesy of rising LA–based artist Bobby Nourmand, quickly caught the attention of many with it's deep, subdued house textures and distinctive vocals. It's a track that feels equally familiar and fresh, atmospheric and grounded, that undoubtedly looking towards the sonic future yet lends a nod to influences of the past. That seems to be a signature mark of Nourmand's style, the contemporary classic, and it's something we can't wait to hear more of.
