Belgian producer Mickey has been a staple here at Caveman Sound for awhile now, through early (and excellent) remixes of artists like Housse de Racket and Sebastien Tellier, to hit singles Walk Away, Sweet Baby and his killer LA Anyway EP. His curious blend of disco–funk with contemporary house has captivated listeners and proved successful for the Exploited Recs mainstay over the years.
Fast forward to today and we've got the premiere of Mickey's brand new single, It's My Man. This year has been a big one for him so far, with two solid releases in You Know The Beat and Disco Lights, and this latest looks to bring that momentum through to the New Year. You may have caught a taste of the track in The Magician's 'Magic Tape 53' a few months back or heard it played out over the summer, as it's already been seeing massive support, and that should immediately tell you something. From the get–go he hits us with the brilliant vocal work of UK singer Yasmin backed by a steady building groove, then drops into a piano melody that makes infectious an understatement. Though it tilts more towards the house end of the spectrum, his signature smooth edge is still apparent, creating a versatile jam with a classic touch. It's one of those tracks where everything seems perfectly in place, and we can't seem to get enough of it.
Stream It's My Man below, and look out for the full release via Spinnin' Deep, available on the 18th of January.
