RÜFÜS — Sundream (Hayden James Remix)

The first Sunday of Spring is upon us! And although Australia is experiencing the exact opposite seasonal reality, Sydney producer Hayden James continues to provide blissful sounds to all, this time flipping powerhouse three-piece RÜFÜS’s single Sundream (taken from their chart-topping LP Atlas) into an eccentric and unique cut full of sunsetty vibes. James’ affinity for off-kilter arrangements comes through again on this one, mixing thick bass notes with deep drum hits to establish a foreground for ascending bell clusters that were a defining sound of his spectacular Embrace EP from last year. The line I want to feel repeats over snares and dynamic synth work, almost as if the young Aussie is seeking to extract emotion directly from our eardrums.
