The Knocks — Comfortable ft. X Ambassadors (Solidisco + Rogue Vogue Remixes)

First things first, if you didn’t get the chance to listen to the marvelous CS guest mix that NY duo Solidisco so gracefully stirred up for us, please drop whatever you’re doing and do your ears a favor! As you might have guessed, disco vibes are the name of the game with these guys, and between their mammoth single Top of the World and string of wonderfully refined remixes, the producers are helping to pioneer the revival of quality disco sounds that have crept their way back into dance music over the last couple years.

Appearing alongside equally talented acts Lightwaves, Oliver Nelson, and Rogue Vogue on the remix package for The Knocks’ new single Comfortable, the disco kings flaunt their finesse yet again, combining shimmering synth lines with jubilant steel drums as if they conjured the theme song for yacht week. Funky bass and sampled shouts hover in the background, and vocals from Brooklynites X-Ambassadors give us yet another reason to want to chase the sunset in a 70’s convertible.

And as expected, rising Chicago party-starter Rogue Vogue also brings the heat with his take on the original, bringing a proper house cut to the table that relies on heavy kicks and synth bursts to raise the temperature of any respectable dance floor. His previous tracks Until The Dawn and Feel Love were on heavy rotation in the Caveman Cave before, and this one will certainly be following the same trajectory.

While both interpretations speed up the tempo and add substantial flare, there’s a certain sweet spot between relaxed and thumping that The Knocks nail down seamlessly, making any threat of imitation virtually impossible.
