THE JAM JAR 094 | Curated By JackLNDN

JJ-JackLNDN-Fin Continuing our fresh monthly spin on the Jam Jar, for the first Wednesday of New Year, we've brought on our UK-based mate JackLNDN, who's consistently been featured in the Jam Jar series making him the perfect person to curate a collection for the week. He's put together an amazing selection, so we'll let him take it from here. Catch an intro in his own words plus his picks below!

Looking to listen to the whole set in a playlist? Do that here.

Firstly let me say, I hope you had a great New Year and welcome to 2015. I’m excited to be curating this months edition of the Jam Jar, and I hope theres a few numbers here that can help ease you into the new year with a smile on your face. There’s a mix of things that I’m really enjoying right now plus a couple of serious bonus tracks.

Kicking things off is an absolute belter of a track from UK/Australian duo Syv. Continuing their streak of great releases, ‘Mya’ has a rolling bouncer of beat complimented by tonnes of musical quality. There’s a really nice combination of lush chords and vocal chops in the breakdown that give way to some serious UK style flavours

Second up is Tobtok and his latest original ‘Free’ with Hoodlum on the vocals. I remixed his huge single ‘Higher’ a few months ago with the original receiving support from Radio 1. I’ve since had the chance to play a show with him in London, he was going b2b with Oliver Nelson which was of course quite fun. ‘Free’ is more laid back than his usual stuff, slowed down and sexy, with a lovely sprinkling of funk. Hoodlem’s vocals compliment the nature of the song perfectly resulting in a delicious, spacey and soulful number.

Next up is Harry Wolfman. I learned a great deal from Harry when I started out as a producer, and he really nudged me towards the deeper side of things. Having thrown many nights together in London, I’ve been a lover of his music for a long time. This latest disco groover is a collab with Skinny Love, who has been playing nights with us since the very beginning. Disco vibes for days on this one. Out now on House Of Disco Records.

This is one of my favourite remixes of the year and has to be included in the Jam Jar. Sllash’s rework of ‘Let Me Love You’ has such a nice blend of elements, all capped off with perfect vocal sampling. If you haven’t heard it you are in for a treat! Feel good at it’s finest.

Hotel Garuda are killing it right now, and I was lucky enough to play a show with them in New York on the last night of my tour. Their output is consistently banging and they smash it live too… what more could you want? Working on a new track with these guys as we speak. Their new remix of ‘Sleepless’ keeps those great vocals, but injects some tasty tropical twists. Oh, and there is a sax, because who doesn't love a sax? Great stuff as always from these two.

One of the most exiting producers out there for me is Hayden James. So I have to include more than one track here. The first track is his remix of ODESZA’s ‘Say My Name’, which oozes originality and musicality in every department.

Now on to his latest masterpiece ‘Something About You’. It’s just been released on Future Classic, so you know it’s going to sound great before you hit play. It’s so well put together as a song, that you can’t help but play it several times upon first hearing it. Unpredictable and irresistibly groovy. I can’t wait to hear more music from him this year.

NVOY serve up some proper UK spice with this one. I have been playing out their music for some time, and it always goes down very well. Also from London, this duo are on a path to great things. ‘You Are’ is their latest original and has a nice deep percussive bass line, met with some scrunchy chords and all topped off with their signature sound.

This next track from Pomo is a remix of AlunaGeorge’s ‘Supernatural, and wow does it go to the next level. Lashings of funk, with slight french influences alongside a hefty bassline with some serious swing to it. Such a unique feel to it, I was blown away when I first heard this track.

Last but by no means least, another tune that has got me excited to hear more from a producer is this remix by Pakem. A serious talent hailing from France, who melts juicy chords with a perfectly formed beat. The outcome is an impressive groover sprinkled with the right amount of essence from the original. The harmony in this one is so sexy.

Thanks very much for reading, and I hope you like the selections.

Happy January, from JackLNDN!

Oh and there’s one more thing I have to share with you. A couple of crazy beats from a Producer called Herzeloyde. When I first stumbled on his soundcloud I ended listening to every track. Future music and insane production on everything. Any producers out there reading this, you wan’t to go check his page out. The sound design on ‘Redpill’ is so out of the box and yet works so well.

Likewise ‘Phanboy’ is another display of serious beat-making abilities. There is no way you can predict what the hell is going to happen next. But it’s always great. This guy needs a bigger following with music like this.
