Bag Raiders — Nairobi
Over the weekend, we had the chance to cruise down to Splash House in Palm Springs, and spend time listening to some excellent poolside sets from a handful of our favorite artists. Though many were outstanding, one of the clearest memories for us was, surprise surprise, Bag Raiders. It's been far too long since we've heard any new material from the LA by-way-of Australia duo, and when they announced just before the weekend's festivities started that they were going to be back in action with a new four-track EP called Nairobi/Savannah, we couldn't wait to get a taste of it in-person.
The first track we're hearing off the forthcoming release is it's lead single Nairobi, a steady-flowing club tune with an infectious blend of rhythmic drum beats and a driving bassline, glossed over in a very Bag Raiders' danceable sound. And we can now say for sure that this jam heats up the dancefloor with ease, seriously it was so hot out there. Not only was every single body in motion, but unabashed grins could be found on each and every face, when it dropped on Sunday afternoon. Nestled within a set packed full of beloved classics and modern gems, we couldn't have asked for anything more.
We're not sure about you, but after hearing this one, we're on the edge of our seats for the rest of the EP, which is set to drop in the US via Modular on July 8th. Sounds like it's going to be a great summer!
