OVERWERK — Matter

OVERWERK gave us the first taste of an unreleased track back at the end of April through a teaser video and now, after what seemed like quite a long wait, he has unleashed his new single Matter. It successfully combines everything that we love about his unique style — tantalizing builds, delicate orchestral elements, excellent layering, and grinding, mind-numbing electro surges. What more can we say here? We’ve come to expect nothing short of the best from him, and this track is pretty damn outstanding. As usual, you can grab it for free on Soundcloud or pay what you’d like via Bandcamp.
Also, if you haven’t caught the piano medley he put together of his latest EP After Hours, check it out below, it’s fantastic.

THE JAM JAR — 015

Our fifteenth installment of The Jam Jar has arrived ladies and gents, and in this week’s list we’ve got heat coming from all directions, with equal parts heavy-hitting dance tunes and more relaxed daytime jams. Japan’s Boys Get Hurt gives us a grand remix of Reflex’s Together via Continental Records, French duo Rise & Fool serve up their killer take on Bastille, and our favorite fun-in-the-sun producers Poolside are back with a brand new single off their upcoming album — plus a whole lot more. These ones will surely have you jamming straight through to the weekend, so without further adieu, dig in!
Cambio Sun — Intuition (Vindata Remix)

It has been a little while since we’ve heard from LA’s Vindata. The duo are responsible for some of our more loved remixes over the past year, with their genre–bending sound taking over tracks from Wildcat! Wildcat!, Little Dragon, Toro y Moi, and more. Now they’re back with a new one and have brought a heap of summertime vibes with it. Intuition, a new track from Sydney’s Cambio Sun, gets an inventive spin with a laid back vibe, chopped up vocals, and plenty of bass – making it a fairly versatile tune all around. Be sure you grab a copy to add to your summer collection!
Check out the really amazing original version as well.

Do Or Die — P.L.M.A.Y. (Lane 8 Rework)

Lane 8 does us right once again with this brilliant new rework of Do Or Die’s Playa Like Me And You. The 1996 classic gets a wash of unstoppable dance vibes with the sampling kept light and the jam level turned up to the max. We’re consistently impressed with his ability to make a track completely his own, having totally transformed the original on this one. The vibes are absolutely perfect for a sunny summertime afternoon. Scoop up the download below and enjoy!
And while we’ve got you, be sure to have a listen to his amazing new original Be Mine, out on Ajunadeep June 24th, here.

Night Drive — Drones (Bit Funk Remix)

You can never go wrong with a little Bit Funk bliss to get your Friday going, and lucky for us he’s back with a great new remix of Night Drive’s Drones. The electro-pop track from the duo made up of Rodney Connell and Brandon Duhon, who were frontmen of MoTel Aviv and Glasnost respectively, gets a smooth glaze from the Brooklyn-based funk aficionado. As we know well by now, he never misses a step and this is no exception, equipped with a crisp, bouncy beat and handclaps that will have you playing this on loop and dancing all weekend. Pick up the free download via Night Drive’s Facebook page below!
And give the original a spin while you’re at it.

Tours — Above Us

Philly’s Dylan Sieh aka Tours never ceases to give us just what we’re looking for. He provides the ideal soundtrack to Sunday with his chilled out new tune Above Us. The track does a perfect job of capturing that feeling of summertime, with it’s sparkling, laid-back style evoking feelings of slowly drifting through a day full of sunshine, a light breeze, and good vibes. It’s featured as part of Jealous Gold’s Gold Vol. 3 alongside a handful of other underground gems you should definitely check out. Be sure to get this one in rotation.
Bonus beats.

Jamiroquai — Lifeline (Shook Remix)

Shook, the Dutch producer responsible for some of the funkiest beats to hit our ears over the past few years, just released this amazing remix of Jamiroquai’s Lifeline and is generously giving it out for free. Apparently he created this almost two years ago, but it never made it out of the vault until now. We’re sure glad it did because the fusion of the two styles is a match made in heaven. Shook is set to be out with his debut album fairly soon, so make sure you keep your ears perked for updates on that. Until then, pick up this ‘new’ remix and get your groove on!

[Exclusive Premiere] Sondrio — Nightcap EP

We’re big proponents of the Australian dance music scene. In fact, in the past fourteen days we’ve posted about the same amount of Aussie artists. The country generates some of the most forward-thinking, genre-bending, and straight-up enjoyable music and producers out there today. One such bourgeoning talent is Luke Tkalcevic, also known as Sondrio, who’s name you might already be familiar with through our features on his remixes of Kraftwerk and Peking Duk, and originals All In, Black and Monetary. His carefully crafted style of house music has caught our ears in a big way.
Following a successful release with his single Monetary, Sondrio is now out with a brand new two-track EP entitled Nightcap. The EP as a whole is centered around the concept of a nightcap, a drink you might have late night when you’re winding things down, or in this case music you might listen to. But he approached each track with the intent of creating something that can fit two very different dancefloor vibes. The initial track Woman Down, which we feel might be his best work to date, is a deep, controlled, chopped-up cut — something that’s perfectly suited to bring things down at the end of the night. It cleverly samples from Outkast and KRS One (you can hear the originals here and here), completing that energetic, sub-heavy vibe. In contrast, Slick, the second tune off Nightcap is, as Sondrio himself puts it, ‘as in your face as the stuff it was inspired by’. Those inspirations come from people like Jesse Rose and Dubsided, from which he has captured that vibe and combined it with his bubbling, funky Sondrio style. It’s one of those tracks that comes on when things are just starting to get a bit wild, but feeling oh so right. You can easily hear the creativity and thought that’s been put into each of the tracks. He’s built synths from scratch, pushed things further than he’s done before, and successfully created a set of tunes that embody exactly what he was going for.
Be sure to keep your eyes and ears out for more from him in the future, but for now you can pick up the full EP for free below!
THE JAM JAR – 011

We’re bringing you deep, disco vibes aplenty this week, with a brand new line-up of some of the freshest jams we’ve been bumping as of late. The knights of feel good, French Express, make a dual appearance this time around with an incredible new one from Moon Boots, and a brilliant remix of one of the best tracks of last year, Chris Malinchak’s So Good To Me, courtesy of UK producer EJECA. Up-and-comers Branded James and Dude Skywalker also bring the heat with some great new tunes. Each one of these tracks is a pure gem, so don’t hesitate to get your hands on them all!
Favright – This Time

Last year we posted a track called 20hours by the young Sydney-based producer Favright, praising his impressively well developed sound and likening it to big names such as Mord Fustang, Wolfgang Gartner, and Deadmau5. It’s been almost a year since his last release, but at long last we’ve got two new originals from the up-and-coming talent. This Time is the most recent of the pair, which was released for free as part of Tasty Network and edmSpotlight’s Spotlight 1 Compilation earlier this week. It features the sort of dynamic, compressed bass, cut and paste sound that we’re familiar with from artists such as the above mentioned, with effectively layered detail throughout making for an all around great track. Pick it up for free below, and make sure you catch his other new original Second while you’re at it.

THE JAM JAR – 010

We hope you’re ready to dance because The Jam Jar is back once again, with our first double digit entry. This week’s collection puts the spotlight on some bright, dreamy, and deep tunes – with new ones from familiar faces to The Jam Jar, Lane 8 and Clancy, an incredible remix from Gigamesh of Crystal Fighters, who’s new album Cave Rave is one of our most anticipated releases of the moment, and though Lifelike’s remix of Get Lucky is the only one we’ve chosen to officially recognize up to now, JackLNDN has done a killer take on it that’s definitely worth hearing. As always they’re free downloads all around, so without further delay, dig in!
Kaskade – Its You Its Me (Shoe Scene Symphony Remix)

If you aren’t aware, Kaskade has been crossing the country on his Its You Its Me Redux tour, a set of nine intimate, deep shows at small venues (the last of which is tonight in San Diego) to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of his debut album of the same name back in 2003. LA’s Shoe Scene Symphony, feeling nostalgic, decided to take the title track for a spin and ended up creating something truly amazing. They’ve really done it justice, mixing in a groovy percussion beat and adding light dashes of progressive melodies, but overall keeping the originals integrity intact. In many cases a classic such as this should stay untouched in our opinion, but considering the guys did such a phenomenal job, this is certainly an exception. Not to mention it’s refreshing to hear their range as producers. Scoop up the free download below, and let’s kick this Friday night off on a good note!
THE JAM JAR – 009

It’s the first day of May, summertime is just around the corner, and yet another round of The Jam Jar is here. You know how this works by now, each week we shower you with a collection of tasty tunes from indie dance, nu-disco, deep house and the like, to help you cruise over that midweek hump and set the stage for a great weekend ahead. Getting things moving today we’ve got a brand new remix out on DFA from the always great RAC, a shimmering nu-disco gem from LA’s Glenn Dale, energetic tribal beats courtesy of French duo Rise & Fool, plus a whole lot more. Pick them up for free below, and as always, enjoy!
Alizzz – Collapse

I just listened to this track while walking home from work, with the sun beginning to set on the city streets, and let me just say it was a few minutes of epic bliss. Alizzz is Cristian Quirante, a producer out of Barcelona, whom we just heard about earlier this week through a tip from the one and only Lenno. He hyped Alizzz’s newest EP Collapse as being next level, and we could not agree more. The title track is one of the freshest arrangements we’ve heard in awhile. You’ll definitely hear some similarities to the likes of Flume and Bobby Tank, but with his own unique twist. It’s a clash of sounds that at points feels so loosely contained it makes you wonder how everything works so incredibly well, but it does. Those bass claps, crushing synths, and drum kicks all come together to create something that’s both heavy and uplifting at once. We highly recommend picking Collapse and the rest of the EP up. It’s Friday night, get pumped.
Bonus! Grab Alizzz’s remix of fellow Spanish artist TiMOTi as well.

THE JAM JAR – 008

Hope everyone’s having a great week so far. We know we’re already looking forward to the weekend, and luckily The Jam Jar has once again arrived to keep us rolling through the last few days of work on a good note. We’ve got some special ones for you today from well-versed tunesmiths, as well as a few names you may not have come across yet, but trust us when we say you’ll be hooked and hearing a lot more of each one of them. Enough talk now, let’s get to this weeks list, kicking things off in style with an unreal remix of Young Empires from Toronto’s Natural Animal, electro pop madness courtesy of Avec Sans, and a deep cut featuring killer vocal work from Jeremy Glenn. Grab them all after the jump!
Luke & Skywalker – Funk You (Original Mix)

Luke & Skywalker are a duo, based out of both Phoenix and Charlotte respectively, who’s eclectic track Funk You recently came across our radar and we haven’t been able to get enough of it. The guys have combined some seriously catchy electro-funk flavor with a dose of robot vocals that gives it a touch of both Daft Punk and Madeon-esque styles. Genres and comparisons aside, this one is really hitting the spot for us right now. We’re definitely looking forward to hearing more like this from them in the future (possibly even a collaboration with Brazil’s Darth & Vader?), so do yourself a favor and pick it up below!
Don’t hesitate to check out this killer tune they did with Louis The Child as well. Spot on.

And we’re back! We’ve been on a slight hiatus as we ventured down to the desert for an absolutely epic week at Coachella, but we made it back in one piece and just in time to deliver some hot new selections for our seventh installment of The Jam Jar. We’re going deep, disco, and funky this week – capturing those moments of pure bliss on the dancefloor and bringing you a bevy of party-worthy house vibes. This round kicks off with some amazing work on The Knocks & St. Lucia’s new tune Modern Hearts from Jam Jar regular Goldroom, and the beats continue with more new ones from Kidnap Kid, Louis La Roche, Blake! and more. Happy middle of the week everybody! The Jam Jar is back once again, and we couldn’t be more stoked about this week’s list, which is packed full of glittering gems, pure bliss, and deep grooves. This roster includes a killer remix from Coucheron of the fast-rising duo Lemaitre, a heavily energetic disco take on Keljet’s new jam from Mighty Mouse, and one for the late night hook-ups courtesy of Tarquin – and of course a whole lot more. Treasure Fingers – Cloud Life (Original mix)

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve had a new gem from Treasure Fingers to revel in, but now he is back! Cloud Life is the name of his new track, which he’s generously giving away for free, and it’s everything and more that we’d expect from the talented producer. In line with his well-established sound, he has dished out an amazingly well-crafted disco house tune that oozes feel good vibes, sunshine, and pool party euphoria. We can’t think of a better way to cruise through your Friday and kick off the weekend than with a jam like this. Grab the download below and get funky!
THE JAM JAR – 005

The jams are flowing, the sun is beginning to shine, and music festival season is just around the corner. We probably say this every week The Jam Jar comes around, but this weeks round-up is stacked. In this new collection we’ve got a killer edit by Amtrac of everyone’s favorite 2012 act Bondax, a shiny new electro pop remix courtesy of New York’s Dave Edwards, and a rarity in the form of a remix from Two Door Cinema Club – in addition to much, much more. So do yourself a favor, pick up all of the tunes below, and get moving through the rest of your week!
MitiS – Visible

Philadelphia’s MitiS is one of those producers that we’re continually impressed with. He’s been on fire lately, stacking quality tracks on top of one other with each new release. In the past couple of months he’s put out a handful of productions that mix ambient, drum & bass, progressive, and dubstep vibes – all of which are equally amazing. Visible is one that really caught our ears, with it’s unbelievably pleasing melodies and gliding ambient sounds that carry you through the track with ease. Make sure to pick it up below, and don’t miss out on the numerous bonus tracks as well!
Hey Champ – Comet (Justin Faust Remix)

Good morning everybody! We’ve got a delicious beat for you today courtesy of Germany’s Justin Faust. He’s remixed the recently dropped, incredible new single from Chicago’s Hey Champ, which we previously featured in our first installment of The Jam Jar. We really couldn’t have asked for a better match-up here, with Faust’s insatiably flavorful disco funk and the rhythmic space age bass and vocals from Hey Champ and BeuKes. This take on the track is a bit more dance floor ready, with a quicker pace and a switched up vocal arrangement, and we just can’t get enough. Best of all it’s a free download, so pick it up below!
It’s bonus time! Justin Faust’s La Fête. if you don’t already have it get it.

OVERWERK – 12:30

Happy Friday friends! We sure have a treat for you today – OVERWERK is BACK! The long time Caveman Sound favorite unleashed his brand new track, 12:30, yesterday that quite honestly takes no prisoners. Equipped with his signature electro house crunch, it’s a wild, energetic ride from start to finish. We see him doing what he does best here, which is pull you in and hold your attention from the moment the gripping beat hits your ears. By combining his own elements, while lightly sampling Abba’s Gimme Gimme Gimme, and adding a touch of that Justice/Daft Punk flair, this one feels unstoppable. We can’t help but get the feeling that something else big will be following this up, so stay tuned. Get your hands on the free download over on OVERWERK’s Facebook page, and be sure to rock this one over the weekend!

A Tribe Called Quest – 1nce Again (Bit Funk Remix)

Brooklyn’s Bit Funk rarely, if ever, misses a beat. He’s been on a roll the past few months with choice remixes for Treasure Fingers, Ben Mono, and Viceroy, and his newest one only continues the hot streak. Since he put out this remix of 1nce, by his legendary fellow New Yorkers, a few weeks back we’ve found ourselves jamming to it nonstop. It has such an irresistibly feel good vibe, and works so well with A Tribe Called Quest’s lyrical flow, you can’t help but hit repeat. If you haven’t already picked this up by now, make sure to do so over on Bit Funk’s Facebook page, this tune should be bumping all year round.
Bonus round! Grab his newest original, The Long Road Ahead, as well.
