Metallica – Seek & Destroy (Bassnectar Remix)

(Photo taken during the show Saturday 8.11.12)

We were granted the highest of honors Saturday evening at Outside Lands Music Festival in SF, having our faces rocked off by Metallica, and boy was it glorious. Though barely having begun recovery and still suffering from (read: reveling in) the aftereffects of the weekends festivities, we thought it the perfect moment for some throwback bass in your face to commend this magnificent time. Bassnectar’s heavy drops paired with Metallica’s face melting guitars are unstoppable on this remix of Seek & Destroy. We can’t think of a more appropriate track to sum up our experience in the forest of San Francisco these past few days. Live hard and headbang on everybody.

Atlas Genius – Trojans (Xaphoon Jones Remix)

Always a pleasure to be gifted with a couple of new remixes from Xaphoon Jones. With the seeming ease of giving somebody a high five, he’s done a genre-defying edit of the sunny Atlas Genius track Trojans. Wrapping the earnest indie vocals in space age beats and ghetto bass hits, he’s created something that breaks all expectations of sounds your ears think they’ll hear, moving things to the next level. This one flexes and bends with constant breaks leaving you yearning for more. His attention to detail and production quality, on both this and the following mix, further cement his reputation of being one of the best producers around right now.

The second edit just unleashed is his ‘in the zone’ remix of Foxes White Coats. It’s just as good as you think it will be.

DWNTWN – See My Eyes (BeatauCue Remix)

One of our favorite French electronic duos BeatauCue just came out with a brand new remix for DWNTWN’s See My Eyes, and lets just say it’s pretty fucking magical. These guys continue to surprise and impress us with their eclectic brand of production from one track to the next. The original was featured on the latest Kitsuné America compilation, among many other glimmering gems, and Kitsuné along with BeatauCue were kind enough to hand out this wonderful remix for free. It’s got a brilliantly uplifting, yet chilled out vibe to it. Absolutely perfect for a laid back morning.

14th – Hide Yourself (Vindata Remix)

Vindata is the Los Angeles duo of Jared Poythress and Branden Ratcliff. You can currently find them tearing up the sound waves with some of the most intriguing and freshest sounding beats to hit your ears as of late. Their remix of Hide Yourself by London’s 14th makes excellent use of Tracey Duodu’s bewitching vocals, tying them in absolute perfect balance with the big break beats. Make sure you put Vindata on your watch list, because if their current productions say anything, it’s that these guys are going to be putting out some exciting stuff in the future.

Milo & Otis – Ambush (Original Mix)

Warning: shock, surprise, alarm, and a sense of elation will most certainly follow the reading of this post. We’ve been anxiously awaiting powerhouse duo Milo & Otis’s new original Ambush, while continually raging to their other releases of course. Man was it worth the wait! These dudes just keep killing it with each new track. Ambush incorporates some slightly different styles than their previous tunes, and is once again a straight up assault on your senses. It kicks in with a big room build then completely switches gears with one of their signature get-wild-and-weird moombahton drops. The combination is right on the money. And as usual, the production value is off the charts. Prepare for the takeover.

Canadian bass duo Adventure Club are finally back with a new original and it sure doesn’t disappoint. Wait combines their signature swooping and epic bass drops with a more club ready sound. It samples the Yeah Yeah Yeahs amazing track Maps, which is a seriously perfect combination, with Karen O’s vocals over a fast paced, energetic beat. On top of this release, they’ve shared that they’ll be unleashing another brand new tune featuring Krewella this coming Thursday. Hot damn! The Wanted – Glad You Came (Clark Kent Remix)

It’s been a bit since we’ve posted anything really filthy, so we’ve got some beautifully constructed dirty dirty for you today. We’re pretty happy to have some new material from dubstep wizard Clark Kent. He’s back with a huge remix of one of our vocally favorite tracks ever, Glad You Came from The Wanted. Similar to his remix of Adele’s Someone Like You, he effortlessly combines the harmonious melodies of the original together with perfectly timed bass drops and tempo breakdowns. Somehow creating a track that’s intensely calming, and satisfies your bass fix at the same time. Get your bass head on.

Milo & Otis – Friendly City

Can these guys do no wrong? Milo & Otis crush it yet again, this time sampling one of our favorite tracks of all time, Justice vs Simian’s We Are Your Friends. You pretty much can’t beat the epic feeling these lyrics give you, and they can quickly escalate a party from chill to rage in a matter of seconds. But Milo & Otis kick things up another level mixing them with some super filthy drops, making you jump up with your hand in the air whether you like it or not. We’re thinking this just might be their best track yet. But we’re sure they’ll upstage themselves once again with the next release. Hit the download immediately and get your (friendly) rage on!

Traveler – Estereo EP

Traveler finally just released their debut EP Estereo last week, and it’s everything we hoped for and more. The EP as a whole really does a great job of letting their talents shine and showing what an ecclectic range they have. It’s full of funky jazz, downtempo, glitch noise, and it’s wonderful. Below, we’ve pulled a few of our new favorites (as we’ve already done reviews on a couple in the past) for your listening pleasure. And if you’re digging what you’re hearing, be sure to head over to their Bandcamp page to download the entire thing, in full, for FREE!

Traveler – Analog Dream. Starting off with some afro dub sounds and incorporating some chopped up vocals and hard bass, we’d say this does the overall best job of showcasing what Traveler is all about.

Theophilus London – Last Name London (Brodinski Remix)

Theophilus London and Brodinski is not your every day team up, but damn does it work well. It does make sense though, both are always breaking barriers with new funky, genre bending beats, so the combination was bound to be great. Brodinski drops some super fresh beats over the hard hitting lyrics from Theophilus, and the whole thing sounds like some space age, robot hop, next level shit. Definitely hoping to hear more of this in the future. Snag the download below and get bumping.

The XX – Intro (CRNKN Bootleg)

CRNKN is Gabriel Baer, a nineteen-year-old dude from New Hampshire, and he’s been on a tear lately. Over the past few months he’s put out a number of releases all with a heavy affinity for mad bass. There’s been a millon and one remixes done of The XX, most all of them good considering how amazing the originals already are. But upon first listen to CRNKN’s bootleg of their track Intro, we knew this was something next level. It takes the chilled out, erethral sounding original and cranks up the electro factor to high, taking you on a winding and raging ride. Super well done.

Uppermost – Dream Colors

Paris’s Behdad Nejatbakhshe, better known by his production name Uppermost, is bringing the heat on his new tune Dream Colors. This track is such a fusion of styles it’s amazing. We’ve got the sounds of banging French electro house, crunchy bass drops, and some funky nu-disco all rolled into one. This is pure magic and perfect for peak rage time or an early morning drive. Keep a lookout for more greatness coming from him in the future in the form of his new EP ‘Life Is A Fight’, out February 27th. And be sure to show him some love over on Facebook.

Fenech Soler – Demons (Minnesota Remix)

Rusko – Somebody To Love (Aylen Remix)

Some new treasures today. Rusko recently released his new big bass filled track, Somebody To Love, and now Aylen has gotten his hands on it. He absolutely crushes it on this remix slowing the pace slightly and accentuating the funky piano jam to start things off before dropping some huge, filthy wobbles on us. Grab hold, get down, and enjoy!

Metric – Collect Call (Adventure Club Remix)

Here’s the newest remix from Montréal’s Adventure Club, and unsurprisingly, they absolutely kill it. Can these guys do anything wrong? Metric’s Emily Haines has always had some of my favorite vocals out there, and they lend perfectly to the bass drops infused by Adventure Club on their remix of Collect Call. Drifting somewhere between dreamy and filthy this track hits all the right levels. Definitely a necessary addition to your tunage, so be sure to hit that download button.

A-Trak & Zinc – Stingray (Benga Remix)

Can’t get enough of this one lately, so we figured we would share it with you all. Benga tears it up on his remix of A-Trak & Zinc’s new track Stingray. Sound the alarm because you’re about to get hit with some bass in the face. This will pretty much make you feel like you’re a gigantic robot two-stepping across the dance floor entertaining people with your fancy lazers or maybe racing against the clock to escape an underwater labyrinth with a precious treasure and an alarm alerting your presence. Jack Beats – Make The People

Happy New Years Eve everybody! Hope you all have some raging plans in the works. We’ve got a funky and filthy track for you today. Jack beats just launched a new series called ‘Dubs for Clubs’ in which they’ll be giving away previously unreleased tracks they’ve played out at their shows. The first of them is Make The People, a crispy tune they made for their HARD Summer sets and it absolutely kills it. It features their signature wobble house, mad bass, a great build up, and unearthly sounding drops making for a wild and epic ride. Definitely looking forward to what they give us next. Have a great night everyone, see you next year, and be sure to get down to this at your pre party!

Minnesota – California Dreamin’ + Raining (Remixes)

I just rediscovered these gems while playing iTunes shuffle roulette (which I highly recommend by the way) and can’t get enough. What incredible tracks. Minnesota is like Pretty Lights absurdly talented twin brother, or Pretty Lights 2.0. The comparison is obvious, and justifiably so. He brings the same type of energy, production value and enthusiasm to his tracks. And if his live show is anywhere near the caliber of Pretty Lights (which I’m sure it is), he’s going to be just as big pretty soon. Dude has Bassnectar dropping his tracks during live sets. Enough said. If you haven’t heard of, or become obsessed with, Minnesota yet, now’s a good time to start.

Adam K & Kaskade – Raining (Minnesota Remix)

A bit newer remix of his. Much heavier than the previous one by PIXL that we posted.

Kill The Noise – Remixed

Something special for you all today. All of the following tracks are off the recent Kill The Noise EP, Kill Kill Kill, which was released on Skrillex’s OWSLA label. It’s one of the most varied sounding, heavy hitting dubstep EP’s I’ve heard in a while now. Kill The Noise always brings the power and perfect production. He also got some of the most phenomenal producers in dubstep right now to remix a couple of the tracks, which I have kindly provided for your enjoyment below.  I didn’t think it was possible to turn a Kill the Noise track into any more of a beast, but each one of these remixes is absolutely vicious.

Kill The Noise (Dillon Francis Remix) - Dillon Francis unsurprisingly kills it (pun definitely intended) on this one, inserting his trademark ‘jump up’ bass heavy style, making for an unreal track.

Avicii – Levels (Skrillex Remix)

Pretty sure this track doesn’t even need any explanation. Skrillex successfully adds his filthy bass magic to the biggest track of 2011 and the final result is pure certified fire. Some rowdy live footage of this remix surfaced last week and we have been waiting to get the full version ever since. The track keeps that signature Levels build-up that we all love and comes crashing down with an unbelievable amount of bass. Listening to this will absolutely make you want to rage your face. Enjoy!

Gotye – Somebody That I Used To Know (Bombs Away Remix)

I just heard the original of this song on the radio the other day and it reminded me that I’ve got this really awesome remix of it. I’ve heard a few different attempts at remixing it, but this one is by far my favorite. The male/female vocal switch off from the original works beautifully already, then Bombs Away goes ahead and adds some dirty bouncing bass drops bringing it to a whole new level. The warped bass line creates such a great mix with Gotye’s hypnotic and emotional vocals. It’s done to absolute perfection. Enjoy.

Also, check out Bombs Away kill it on their remix for Mind Electric we posted previously, here.
