Phonat — Ride The Prejudice

Inventive Italian producer Phonat is back with a brand new track titled Ride The Prejudice, which is his first original release since his Cockroaches EP in 2010. The single, off his upcoming EP Identity Theft, delicately weaves minimal electro beats and vocals together with atmospheric elements and crisp piano, leaving your senses stimulated and wanting more. It’s filled with his signature laid-back, glitchy style, while also incorporating future garage elements in tune with Mofohifi label mate Bobby Tank. The result is soothing and uplifting all at once, making it instantly enjoyable and suited for any situation. The EP is set to release June 4th via OWSLA, so keep your ears perked until then.
THE JAM JAR — 012

The Jam Jar, a brand new feature we’ll be rolling out every Wednesday going forward. The concept is pretty straightforward, each week we’ll add a new collection of indie-dance, house, and nu-disco style jams to the jar — the kind of tunes that carry you off into sun-filled daydreams, that are packed full of funky beats and deep basslines, and that most importantly make your day a more enjoyable one.
Happy Wednesday everybody! We hope your week has been grand so far, but if not, it will surely get better after reading this post. It’s our favorite time of the week again, when we get to bring you a handful of tasty new tunes via The Jam Jar. Supplying your midweek bliss this time around we’ve got a spaced out remix of everyone’s favorite R.A.M. track Doin’ It Right, courtesy of Brooklyn’s The Golden Pony, a beautiful take on José González from Munich’s Dinner Date, and some sensual deep vibes by way of LA’s Them Jeans. Snag the whole pack for free below!
Charles Murdoch – No Lungs

Future Classic’s newest addition to their line-up, Brisbane’s Charles Murdoch, first came across our radar last year with his masterful remix of Flume’s Sleepless. He also happens to be part of the indie dance band Mitzi, who we’re big fans of. His brilliant new track, No Lungs, which was just released through Future Classic this past Friday, is taken from his forthcoming EP that’s set to be released on the label in July. It’s a brief display of his uniquely constructed sound, and the burgeoning talent that we look forward to hearing much more of. You can get your hands on a free WAV download of the track below.
Wake Owl – Wild Country (Teen Daze Remix)

Teen Daze has long been one of our favorite producers. His remix of Toro Y Moi’s essential track Still Sound (get it here) remains regularly on loop, and his second full-length record The Inner Mansions, released last year, continued his consistently incredible work. Now the Canadian feel-good, dreamwave aficionado has released an amazing remix through Vagrant Records of Wake Owl’s Wild Country, a combination we could previously only have dreamt of. The styles of each compliment one another fantastically, with Wake Owl’s folk aesthetics washed over by the euphoric soundscapes of Teen Daze. The final result ends up having an amazingly laid back and magical vibe all around. Be sure to pick this one up and add it to what will inevitably continue to be an abundant collection of tunes from both of these artists.
MitiS – Visible

Philadelphia’s MitiS is one of those producers that we’re continually impressed with. He’s been on fire lately, stacking quality tracks on top of one other with each new release. In the past couple of months he’s put out a handful of productions that mix ambient, drum & bass, progressive, and dubstep vibes – all of which are equally amazing. Visible is one that really caught our ears, with it’s unbelievably pleasing melodies and gliding ambient sounds that carry you through the track with ease. Make sure to pick it up below, and don’t miss out on the numerous bonus tracks as well!
AlunaGeorge – Attracting Flies (Andrea Bootleg Edit)

Since we discovered the upcoming French producer Andrea a couple of weeks back, we haven’t been able to stop listening to his tracks. His inventive style that mixes organic electronic, R&B, future garage, and bass melodies together, is ridiculously infectious. AlunaGeorge’s new tune Attracting Flies has already been on heavy rotation for us since it’s release, and now that we’ve got this brilliant edit from Andrea, that’s sure not changing anytime soon. He’s added an excellent arrangement of compressed bass and bubbling beats to Aluna Francis’ delicious vocals. Fans of Flume, What So Not, James Blake, and Bondax take note, Andrea is definitely one to watch this year. Snag the download, and some necessary bonus tunes, below! And while you’re at it, check out this killer live mix he just did in collaboration with our new friends Banana.
Doe Paoro – Born Whole (Zebra Safari Remix)

We posted about the ear catching sounds created by John and Luke, aka Zebra Safari, not too long ago and they’ve now put out a couple more great productions worth adding to the collection. Their latest effort is an entrancing take on Doe Paoro’s Born Whole, which mixes the near ghostly vocals and classical vibe together with tribal sounding beats. It’s a minimalistic approach that works incredibly well with the original. Pick up the download below, and keep your ears open for more from this talented Swedish duo soon.
Bonus! Check out their amazing edit of Daughter’s Love as well, it’s not one to miss.

Alt-J – Breezeblocks (# Remix)

Alt-J’s infectious tune Breezblocks gets a clever remix treatment from the shrewdly named Aussie trio #Hashtag. The guys have done phenomenal work in utilizing Alt-J’s falsetto howls in their original state, while contrasting them with sporadic low-pitched distortions of choice lines. A refined take on the styles of Flume and What So Not are brought to mind with the initial kick of tropical-tinged bass. Overall the effect is an intriguingly simple, yet intelligently constructed tune. You can, and most definitely should, download it for free over on their Facebook page.
Walter Murphy – A Fifth Of Beethoven (Flight Facilities Edit)

We honestly have no idea why we haven’t posted this yet. Especially considering we’ve had it on repeat since it came out. And even more so since Flight Facilities are one of our absolute favorites. Anyways, here it is in all it’s glory. This is Flight Facilities doing what they do best, and something many producers couldn’t even dream to attempt. Soulwax’s edit of this track was too heavy for their Triple J decade mixes, so they just made their own easily mixable version, and it’s pure, effortless, bliss. If you don’t already have this, you really should, so make sure to get it now.
Zebra Safari feat. Goofy Mane – Never

Newcomers Zebra Safari, in addition to having an awesome name, have caught our attention with their unique brand of downtempo yet energetic productions. The Stockholm duo just sent their newest track Never our way, featuring vocals from Goofy Mane, and we were immediately captivated by the relaxed, passionate vibe. The only downside is the brevity of the track which comes in at just under three minutes, but it’s an enjoyable cut regardless, and just leaves us wanting to hear more. Grab the download below and keep an ear out for more from them soon!
Bondax – Gold (Snakehips Bootleg)

There’s nothing like having the very first track you listen to in the morning blow you away. It can easily set the mood for the day to come, and in this case, the whole weekend. Snakehips, a UK production duo previously unknown to us, did just that on this remix of everyone’s favorite wunderkinds Bondax. They’ve taken an already unbelievably unique track into a whole new space, adding some next-level funk and completely transforming the entire vibe. The tasteful groove, bouncing bass, and crushing synths all work together in unison to create a hands down feel good tune. This one’s sure to roll all the way through summer, so we advise you grab to hold now.
Bonus beats: Wild Belle – It’s Too Late (Snakehips Remix).

Unlike Pluto – Girl, Walk this Plank
Atlanta-based producer Unlike Pluto, whom we previously featured for his unique and perfectly executed remix of Mumford & Sons’ hit single I Will Wait, has been dabbling in some equally refreshing original production as of late. His most recent effort comes in the form of another melodic, bass-infused gem loaded with plenty of his signature dub-house intricacies in all the right places. It somehow strikes a great balance between being smooth and mellow, but equally dramatic and hard-hitting at the same time. Awesome vibes – enjoy!
Felix Cartal – Lullaby (feat. Natalie Angiuli)

We kind of slept on posting this due to the hectic holiday nature of the past couple weeks, but we’ve really been digging this track since Felix Cartal let it loose last month. Lullaby is the B-side in a set of tunes he’s made with vocalist Natalie Angiuli. It’s a divergence from his usual aggressive, electro driven style, showing us a more delicately constructed side to his production. He wraps a beautiful melody around outstanding vocals making for a powerful and intoxicating track all around. Pick up the free download below!
If you want something a bit heavier, have a listen to No Sleep, his other track with Natalie Angiuli, it’s a killer.

Peking Duk – The Way You Are (Sondrio Remix)

Peking Duk’s The Way You Are was one of our favorite releases late last year, with it’s blissfully vintage summertime vibe. Now Sondrio, a fellow Aussie of theirs, has gotten his hands in the mix and made the track into something beyond temptation. Smoothing it out, upping the dose of flavorful house, and throwing in some beat breaks, he makes an incredibly great version of an already phenomenal tune. This is some really choice work from a producer we’re undoubtedly going to be hearing more of. Be sure to scoop up the download below!

Wake Owl – Gold (Noah Hyde Magic / Sword Remix)

A couple of months back we featured a few tracks from the very talented Boise-based Noah Hyde. His remix of Cruiser’s Don’t Go Alone is still in heavy rotation over here. We’re excited to say he’s at it again, with another amazingly well done remix, this time of Wake Owl’s Gold. When he sent this over last week with a modest note we expected greatness, and that’s exactly what we’ve been given. Upon first listen it was instantly catapulted into our favorites of the moment. It’s a haunting, incredibly well constructed tune that will immediately pull you in. The quality of his production has never faltered, and we see nothing but success coming for Noah Hyde in the future.

Tours – Okay EP

Once again Philadelphia native Dylan Sieh aka Tours impresses us with a set of amazingly well put together tunes. He provides the perfect soundtrack to a Sunday of rest and relaxation before diving into the week, in the form of his new EP Okay. It’s four tracks of upbeat chillwave goodness, that combine dreamy synths, tropical bass, and chopped up beats brilliantly. Yrslf and I Need U are two choice cuts from the EP, but if you dig what you hear, we highly suggest you head over to Young Latitudes and name your price to grab the EP in whole.

The Smiths – This Charming Man (Luis Leon Bootleg)

From time to time a remix of an iconic song will pop-up, and we’re always skeptical of what the result will be, as most are so near perfect in their own right you’ve really got to tread carefully. But every once in awhile something like this comes along, a genius execution that parallels with the original so well you’re effectively hooked from the start. If The Smiths went electronic, this is what they’d sound like. Peru’s Luis Leon killed it with a deep house take on the classic, keeping the dark vibe alive but bringing it to the dance floor front and center. When that beat kicks in at 2:45 we dare you to resist moving your feet, it’s not possible. Go grab the download, here.
Alos check out this amazing take he’s done on another classic act Depeche Mode.

The-Dream – Can’t Wait to Hate You (Mariah Carey Demo) (Jerome LOL Edit)

The-Dream is an artist we never thought we’d find ourselves posting, but leave it to Jerome LOL to turn something we would typically avoid, into something we’re bound to have on repeat. His latest edit of the tender Can’t Wait to Hate You pulls out a single line from the original and repeats it over like a chant, a tactic that worked magic on his phenomenal Diamonds remix. Set to uplifting and tropical tinged beats he gives the emotional weight of the track a whole new meaning. R&B lament? Try irresistible dance jam. Grab the download below.

OVERWERK – After Hours EP

Over the past couple of months we’ve given you previews of OVERWERK’s much anticipated new EP in the form of Signal and Daybreak, along with a crushing mashup pack. We’re not sure about you, but we’ve been on the edge of our seats waiting for the full release. Well, After Hours is finally here in all it’s glory, and is unsurprisingly everything we hoped for. From the busting energy of Relapse, to the tantalizing build-ups of Night Shift, and chilled outro Waves, OVERWERK displays his dynamic production talent and keeps us captivated throughout. Here are four new tracks that we haven’t previously posted. But don’t hesitate to name your price, and grab the EP in whole, here.
Fixers – Iron Deer Dream (Shook Remix)

One of our favorite mood makers Shook just handed over this absolutely fantastic remix he did a while back of Fixers Iron Deer Dream. He’s put his magic touch all over this one, slowing it down and adding some seriously smooth piano playing and jazz riffs. It gives you that hazy, seductive, sun-soaked vibe that’s ideal for a realxed day while traveling, or a candlelit evening with that special someone. Slide over to Shook’s Facebook page and pick it up for yourself, here.
More smooth operating from Shook.

Lana Del Rey – Born To Die (Monsieur Adi Remix)

Monsieur Adi does it again on his subtle but genius remix of Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die. The Frenchman’s cinematic and sparkling beats suit her emotion laden vocals right on point, creating a fairly haunting yet soothing feel overall. Even with all of the other versions of this track floating around out there, this is definitely one of the best. Having done some fine work on pop remixes in the past (see: Foxes Youth), we’re not surprised at the caliber here. Pick it up below, and keep watch as Monsieur Adi just announced an official remix for Lana Del Rey will be hitting our ears soon!
