Interview:

Caveman Sound: Tell us about what went into this guest mix.

Ferdinand Weber: Its a combination of nu disco, deep and classic house grooves. The track selection contains some of my favorite Artists of the last year like Just Kiddin, Moon Boots, Sascha Braemer.

CS: Your project alongside Chris Fabich has received praise from the likes of Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1, Tastemakers such as Eton Messy, and even Tiesto — what’s been the biggest highlight to date?

FW: I'm really grateful how this year turned out. This project is my personal highlight. If I have to choose one particular, it would be the gig @ “Le Rafiot” last year,a really small club in Strasbourg. It has been my first time playing in France and the energy was just perfect.

CS: We’re hearing a lot of deep, soulful music come out of Germany lately — like Dinnerdate, WKND, Pretty Pink — what do you think is it about the country that brings out this kind of sound?

FW: This whole hype around melodically deep house started in Berlin years ago. It was just a matter of time until other good producers discovered it.

CS: Speaking of Dinnerdate, your track with him, Souls Together, just landed a spot in our Best Originals of 2014 list — can you speak to the creation of that? Any plans to do more together in the future?

FW: I really like this track as well. We had a very creative time at our studio and we were able to produce this track rather quickly. We started with the chords and built the vocal slices "Souls Together“ around it. We already started working on new tracks together :)

CS: Now that we’re hearing more solo work from you, how has the process been different than working in a duo? Can we expect any changes in your sound?

FW: It is not a big difference for me, because I started as a solo artist. I really like to work with other creative people in the studio, it's a different vibe.

I grew up with classic house music of Defected Records etc. I love this style therefore you will hear this influence in my future releases.

CS: What do you do to stay inspired?

FW: Last year I moved to Berlin, in my opinion one of the most inspiring cities in the world for this kind of sound. I also like going to concerts to relax and broaden my mind.

CS: Because its a new year, who are some artists you’re looking forward to keeping an eye on in 2015?

FW: Chris Fabich, Daniele Di Martino, Dinnerdate, WKND, Jafunk.

CS: Your music is the soundtrack to what city?

FW: Berlin/London.

CS: Last but not least, what’s coming up for you? New releases, some shows in the US perhaps?

FW: I'm working on some originals right now. There will be a release very soon and hopefully some shows in the US.
