ZHU — THE NIGHTDAY EP

It's taken only a few short weeks for mysterious LA-based artist ZHU to take the blogs and charts alike by storm. If you've had your head even slightly above water you're sure to have caught a couple of his captivating tracks already, Superfriends and Faded. Debuting at #1 on both the single and album overall iTunes chart upon it's release in Australia, we at long last saw the release of his full THE NIGHTDAY EP here in the US this past Sunday. An impressive six-track set that really speaks for itself, we'll let the music do most of the talking but for a brief overview to set the stage.

Spanning a range of atmospheres, each tracks provides it's own unique journey while seamlessly blending into it's companion. While Stay Closer makes for a grand entrance, with a steady building, resounding energy and bold bassline prepping us for what's in store over the coming tracks — Faded brings you firmly under it's influence through an entrancingly catchy hook. Paradise Awaits and Superfriends make for a contrasting pair, bringing us high with bright, flirtatious notes then diving deep into the hypnotic depths. And finally rounding things come The One, carrying us through with it's melodic grooves, and the previously unheard and noted highlight off the release, Cocaine Model, which comes as a mesmerizing serenade that just leaves us wanting more.
